Judy first became interested in photography when she and a friend saved their Bazooka Joe bubblegum wrappers to buy a camera. It was cheap and plastic and the roll had to be mailed back in order to get the pictures printed. Judy was instantly smitten.
She eventually graduated to a Polaroid camera and loved getting instant results. Later, she got to play with her father’s Petri camera with the pop out lens, and loved the results the larger format negatives produced. She spent many years using 35 mm cameras and enjoyed learning how to process her own black and white prints. When digital cameras emerged, Judy was at first skeptical, but was ultimately won over by the results.
Some of Judy’s friends have noticed how she tends to find the beauty in everything she photographs. She acknowledges that while there is the more obvious beauty that nature presents, she also sees how moments that are “real” have their own beauty.
Photography is a spiritual outlet for Judy. She continues to see the beauty in everything, and hopes only that she manages to capture it.
